Last month, NASA launched a cargo ship carrying an experimental system on board used to study the oxidation of ammonia under microgravity conditions to convert urine into water on the ISS. This research project named AELISS is a collaboration between the University of Alicante in Spain and the University of Puerto Rico, and the project group chose Metrohm DropSens products for their studies.

SwissShrimp AG, Europe's largest shrimp farm, grows antibiotics-free Pacific White Shrimp in 16 large indoor pools filled with seawater. The seawater is controlled several times per day to monitor toxic parameters (ammonium, nitrite, and nitrate) and other seawater parameters (e.g. chloride, sodium, and magnesium). For the analyses, SwissShrimp AG relies on a fully automated ion chromatography system from Metrohm that combines ease of operation with efficiency to yield reliable results.
